Passing of the Party Hat

How exciting is this?! I am passing the party hat to a fantastic husband and wife team who are the proud new owners of Soiree. I know... crazy, right? Don't worry, you're going to L.O.V.E. love them!
This dynamic duo is completely excited and full of amazing ideas to grow and expand Soiree while still taking care to maintain the original location and all of the fun events that have taken place there over the past 2+ years.
Carter & Alli Poole have 6 children. Kaley Poole-17, Corey Poole-14, Logan Murfin-12, Baleigh Murfin-9, Cruzen Poole-22 months & Tenasyn Poole-8 months. Seriously, they are their own party under one roof. The family is light-hearted, fun-loving and energetic. Their house is always full of laughs, whether it be by the children or the goofy parents. Alli has always had a passion for throwing out-of- this-world parties for her own children, family and friends and has a knack for making sure people feel special on their special day. Carter is known as 'the life of the party' so, throwing parties for other people just seemed like the natural next step. Carter and Alli plan to grow Soirée into other towns and locations. They say they are very proud and honored to take over for me (awe shucks you guys) They look forward to what the future may hold.
Albert Einstein said, "Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."
So plug into your imagination Carter and Alli and run wild with this business. The clients are so supportive, the kids are a blast and give you more love than you can imagine and I've found there's nothing more rewarding than to know that your job is simply to make people happy.
It's been a blast and I am so blessed to have gotten to know so many people because of Soiree. Many of you have become personal friends and for that reason alone...I have been wildly successful in this business venture.
Carter and Alli are planning a huge event on Cinco de Mayo. Look for an announcement soon...I will say I might have overheard them talking about a give-a-way. (wink wink)

Oh The Joys of Clearance Shopping

Boy oh boy do I look forward to the clearance shopping out there for post Halloween.  Can't you just imagine the great things we are able to score at a great price?  Last year we loaded up on pirate costumes.  This year I was hoping for more costumes to add to the Rock Star theme but...you all must have beat me to the punch.  It's ok, I'll forgive you.  :)

What I did score was a LOT of black light bulbs.  Those boogers are normally high dollar.  What do I use black light bulbs for you ask?  Black Out Parties of course!  Here is a picture of one we hosted last year.  A Black Out Party is perfect for ages 15-18ish.  We black out all the windows so it is literally pitch black in the space, then we change out the regular light bulbs with black lights.  The kids wear white and fluorescent clothing.  We provide you with hundreds of glow sticks and highlighters.  The highlighters are used to write messages on the kids white shirts.  The black lights in combination with the DJ lighting we have make for a magical night of dancing and fun for these kids.  Our sound system is great!  We have all the newest music but of course, at this age they want their own mix so, by all means bring their phone or laptop and we'll plug it into our system.

Since I saved money on the bulbs, why not offer you a savings too?

This four hour custom party would normally go for $650.  If you book it in the next 30 days, I can offer this party  for $400.  Take advantage of this price for a milestone party...maybe a sweet 16, the big 18 or even plan now for a grand graduation bash.  Some really smart moms combine parties with BFFs so the families split the expense. Now that's s-m-a-r-t.

Too Big For Our Britches

I've been known on occasion to tell my kids they are too big for their britches. It usually isn't meant as a "positive". Well in this case, it couldn't be more positive. Business is great at Soiree and the fact is, our current location is no longer able to accommodate our business needs. We are just bursting at the seams so....drum roll please...WE'RE MOVING!

I know, I know. Our location is awesome and charming and vintage and industrial and all around great. Really, did you think we would compromise any of those attributes? Of course not. We are only moving one block East of our current location and still on Main Street in Collinsville. We are excited to say we will now be ADA compliant, we are at street level, we have more space and can more easily convert from child party to adult party. The move will be complete by June 11th, just in time for Hogs and Hot Rods. The new diggs still sport the exposed brick walls that you all love, an amazing tin ceiling and all the charm that goes along with the history of downtown Collinsville, Ok.

Our new address is 1014 West Main Street Collinsville OK. Now plug that into your navigational device and come give us a visit.

We want to host your best party ever!

Ribbon Cutting

We must be for-real because we celebrated our official ribbon cutting with Mayor Stan Sallee and other Chamber members on Thursday! Riley was on hand to cut the ribbon. Don't tell her sister or my three kids. They would be nine kinds of mad about that so happy for Riley.

Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Collinsville for your warm welcome. We are looking forward to working with you for a very long time.

In other news, Soiree has booked it's first wedding reception for May 22nd. We could not be more excited! There are 80 guests expected and the bride and groom are just so sweet! We are working with a wonderful caterer whom we have worked with before, Rainey Talbot of Owasso. If you'd like information on her business let me know. We love to support other small business owners.

If you haven't heard, Pump It Up in Broken Arrow is now closed. Sincerely, we hate to hear of any business having to close. When business is good for everyone, it is best for everyone. But if you know someone who had planned a party with them and are now at a loss of what to do, we hope you'll send them our way. After all...our parties really do rock! Just ask any of the folks below this post what they thought.

Friday night was another teen dance party. In the words of the momma who helped plan it, "It's so nice the teens have a place to dance without it seeming like it's a bad place to be." We couldn't agree more momma. Thank you for your business and send me some of those pictures so we can get them up on the blog!

Take A Look

Finally we have some pictures for you. The first few are of the kick off party. I'd say it was a huge hit with the 30-something 10 year olds who attended. This Saturday we have back-to-back parties. First an art party for a brother and sister and then a Princess party for sweet Miss P.

Thank You For Sharing

Soiree would like to thank all of you Moms who have been spreading the word about our great party space. When I get a phone call inquiring about a party, I always ask how they heard about us and time and again it was a friend who saw us on Owasso Area Moms, or a friend of a friend, or some other connection from word of mouth. We know a business lives or dies by word of mouth and it means a lot to us that you all are sharing us with your friends.

We are getting pretty booked up for February, but do still have a few openings. If you need a space for a child's party, or any kind of party we hope you'll consider Soiree. Our space is approximately 1800 sq feet of open space. We have gleaming hard wood floors, exposed brick walls, and a tin ceiling. Our 95 year old building provides a lot of character for any party. Your child will enjoy our Jupiter Jump, a dressing room full of costumes for a themed party, a stage, an amazing sound system and a disco ball.

If you need a place to host a business luncheon, a baby shower, a wedding shower, a rehearsal dinner, or anything at all, Soiree is a space unlike any other you'll find.

Call us today to book your next event!

A Kick Off Party!

January 29th is our official kick off party for Kai Ozug. Kai is celebrating his tenth birthday and has invited 42 guests. Celebrating a ten-year-old-boy's birthday is proof that, although we are fantastic at the kiddie party, we can also seriously rock an older child's party.

If you're still not clear on what we do, feel free to call and schedule a time to come by and take a look.

Our unique and wonderful space, which boasts over 1800 sq ft, is available for not only birthday parties, but also for play dates, rehearsal dinners, receptions, showers, and luncheons.

Ikea Bliss

There are something like seven wonders of the world. I can't even begin to name them. I am certain though, that one of them is Ikea. If it's not, then I lobby that we expand the list to eight.

Misty and I are meeting up December 26th at Ikea to shop for Soiree. It is quite possible that the driving force behind starting this business was so we would have a reason to spend an entire day shopping at Ikea. I know, I know, it's alot to invest of our time and money just to create a need to spend one full day at Ikea, but if you don't understand, then I venture to say, you've never been to Ikea.

At any rate, I am already in the DFW area for Christmas. Misty is making the drive by herself early Saturday. We will cram carefully pack everything we can get our grubby hands on into her HHR so she can then turn right back around and make a 10 hour round trip back to Tulsa with the goods. In all seriousness, pray for Misty. That's a lot of driving in one day.

Misty is on vacation the week after Christmas so we are 85% certain we can get the shop 95% done. (I have to give myself percentage goals to stay focused if you haven't noticed)

The space is looking awesome! The Jupiter jump is up. Our kids have tested it out for all of your kids and they give it the big thumbs-up. We have already booked several parties and can't wait to book yours. Give us a call or shoot us an email and we'll put you on our books too.

One last note: We are going to host a birthday party once per quarter for a child in need. Could be a special needs child, a family who is struggling financially, or some other need you know about. We'd like your help on what we should call this project and who you know that might qualify as a child in need. The party will be free to the chosen family.

In the wise words of my business partner Misty..."Love, Peace and Chicken Grease Y'all"

Kerosene and Polyurethane

Soiree is in a building that is around 80 years old I suppose. The space is beautiful but as of right now we don't have heat. An 80 year old building with no heat when it's 20 degrees outside makes for a chilly night of work. (ONG is coming on Wednesday so we'll be toasty by then)

Misty and I put on several layers and lit the kerosene heater while we applied polyurethane to the counter tops and cabinets. Let me just say it's a good thing we live very near Soiree because driving after two hours of that concoction was not such a swift move.

Things are looking fantastic! The counter tops are pretty wild, but we think the wild against the historic brick walls and tin ceiling is the perfect combination. This week we will finish the kitchen complete with new cabinet doors that have been salvaged from an old greenhouse here in town. I guess you can say we are green, but really just thrifty, the doors were free! They were actually the windows on the greenhouse. We are going to clean them up and hinge them to the cabinets. The glass will allow you to see inside of the cabinets that we've ModPodged scrapbook pages to.

Tonight as we worked we brainstormed some ideas for an Open House in January. I actually think we'll be ready by mid January...that might just be the kerosene/poly mix talking though.

Progress

We are chugging along at Soiree. Today was a day of great progress. Misty currently works a full time job so when she has a day off we are able to double-time it.

She showed up this morning with her tool box which I thought was quite impressive.

Misty spent the day cutting up and pulling out the nasty unattractive carpet from what will be the dressing room. Once she had the carpet and the pad up, she moved on to the joyful job of pulling out thousands of staples from the wood floor. GO MISTY! You are my hero.

I worked in the kitchen while Cannon was a nuisance big helper. He and I removed all of the cabinet doors and lined the inside of the cabinets with some quirky paper.

All in all a great day for Soiree!

Don't forget we are booking parties now so call or email us today to plan your perfect party.

Opening Soon!

We could not be more excited to bring the first of it's kind party business to Collinsville. We plan to open in February, 2010, but things are moving so quickly, there is a possibility we will open in January.

Initially we will offer full service themed birthday parties such as...

Princess
Rock Star
Pirate
Western
Sports
Trains
and more...

What does "full service" mean? Simply put...

All you have to do is show up!

We will handle as much or as little of the party as you'd like. Want us to invite your guests? We do that. Want us to bring the cake, set up the room according to your theme choice, direct the children through game time, present opening time, and cake time? We do all of that too. Would you like us to keep track of who brought what gift so we can send out the thank you cards? Guess what...We even do that!

Every child will leave with a memory of the best party they've ever been to and a goodie bag full of treats.

The best part for you is

No Clean Up!

Our unique and wonderful space, which boasts over 1800 sq ft, will be available for not only birthday parties, but also for play dates.

By Summer of 2010 we expect to be able to accommodate other types of parties like wedding receptions, business luncheons, holiday parties, and family reunions. Pretty much, if you need a space Soiree is that all inclusive meeting area. We will be able to offer catering with a full wait staff or a buffet style set-up.

We are currently booking parties for February so call today to schedule your party.
